A few drawings from my Inktober ‘23 exercise: A drawing a day with a crowquill handmade (by me) from a found crow feather.
Results varied, from feather to feather. My skills were crude, but I learned as I went along. Sometimes it took several tries to get a good point. Some feathers were just too brittle and never did make a good point. But I managed to make a couple really reliable quills, and I was surprised at how well they held up. Still good, after weeks of steady use. (Color applied after the drawing was complete, with watercolor or digitally. )
